Mastercard Payment Services is looking for a Lead Functional Tester to help deliver scalable, resilient payment solutions. You will help ensure the quality, reliability and regulatory compliance of payment processing platforms.
The team follows a test-pyramid approach, prioritising fast unit and component tests close to the code and keeping large, slow end-to-end tests to a deliberate minimum.
Your responsibilities
- Lead functional testing across payment applications and services.
- Analyse business requirements, functional specifications and SEPA scheme rulebooks.
- Design and execute test scenarios, test cases and test data using BDD with Cucumber/Gherkin and test-first practices.
- Validate ISO 20022 message flows and end-to-end payment transactions across gateways and clearing systems.
- Support integration, system, regression, user acceptance and production verification testing.
- Investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis and work with engineers to resolve issues.
- Contribute to test automation, continuous quality improvement and mentoring of junior testers.
- Verify compliance with relevant payment-industry, security and regulatory standards.
Required experience and skills
- Extensive functional-testing experience within payment or banking platforms.
- Strong knowledge of SEPA schemes and European payment infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience testing ISO 20022 messages and payment flows.
- Proven experience with BDD using Cucumber/Gherkin and TDD in automated test suites.
- A test-pyramid mindset, with automation focused on unit and component levels.
- Experience with API testing, defect management, test planning and execution.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Clear communication and effective collaboration in Agile, international teams.
Additional experience that would be valuable
- SEPA Credit Transfer (SCT) and Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst).
- EPC Rulebooks and EU payment regulation.
- EBA Clearing, STEP2, RT1, TIPS and TARGET Services.
- API-testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
- Test automation frameworks, Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
- Performance and integration testing.
- Clearing and settlement within financial services.
- Secure payment processing.
